| Ten Minute Mac Podcast feed fixed |
|
You might have noticed when episode 10 was first
released that the feed was somehow broken. Well,
for some unknown reason, the feed just magically
fixed itself the other day (by the way, sorry I'm
so late with this). I'm not sure what went on, but
I emailed Switchpod (I love these people now) and
asked what was going on. I was informed that the
feed looked okay on their end, so I should just
wait it out and see what came of it. The response
was prompt (as in withing 20 minutes prompt) and
the problem was resolved. Have fun with the
episode, and I'll see you all in episode 11!

| Frankly Tech #3: Google <3 YouTube - Posted By: James |
Well, hello again my tech people/geeks/etc. It's
been a while since my last bit of writing up here,
but I've got something to write about now, let's
get started shall we?
Earlier this week, the YouTube founders announced
that they had sold the company to Google for $1.6
Billion. I'm good with this. In fact, more than
good; I like the idea of Google owning YouTube.
Resources (from Google) coupled with marketing know
how and an incredibly large user base (YouTube)
could make for a pretty usable website. What I'm
slightly annoyed at is the way mainstream media has
handled the news. People seem to have a similar
sentiment about Apple. I dislike the way the media
goes crazy every time Google makes a move.
Yes, they're a big company. They are innovative,
forward thinking, and unafraid to try new ideas (we
should throw in the other qualities of smart, cute
and funny so we can make it seem like the ideal
girlfriend), but they aren't as much so to make a
big deal out of EVERYTHING they do.
I was sitting at my computer once and I opened up
Firefox to read some of the blogs I subscribe to.
I opened up Sage and read down my list of blogs.
After a few seconds, I chose one. I saw that the
first thing on the page was an article about how
Google had only just released their new
spreadsheet application. Being a Gmail user, I
went and checked it out. It really wasn't that
great, but because it was Google, everyone went
crazy about it. Google made a big hubub concerning
it, and I think it let down a lot of people who
were really looking for a contender to Excel. I
guess what I'm trying to say here is; Google, if
you read this blog, please stop making such a big
deal out of every single thing you release. You
end up letting a lot of people down and upsetting
nitpicky people like me. Google, I have said my piece.
